"Forces And Faces Of Weather" 2009 Calendar Is Now Available From The Weather Channel
Atlanta (PRWEB) August 8, 2008 -- The "Forces and Faces of Weather" 2009 calendar from The Weather Channel is available now on www.weather.com/store or can be purchased wherever calendars are sold. The calendar features stunning weather photographs and reflective commentary from The Weather Channel meteorologists, a unique concept created for the first time by The Weather Channel and Sourcebooks, a national independent publisher. The suggested retail price for the calendar is $12.99.
The 2009 calendar features exclusive high-quality, vividly-colored reproductions of never-before-seen photos by esteemed photographer Warren Faidley. Each photo is accompanied by comments from a member of The Weather Channel on-air staff, providing scientific insight and also expressing their own fascination and appreciation of weather phenomena. The pages are also filled with many interesting facts about historic weather events and records.
"Consumers are always seeking ways to connect with the brands they trust. We are pleased to make this unique calendar concept available to them for the first time and think it will be a popular item for holiday gift-giving this year," said said Shari Pace, vice president of licensing, The Weather Channel.
Each calendar month illustrates a weather scene - a beach pier being battered by a storm surge, a sky streaked with lightning or a spiraling tornado otherwise known as a land spout - and each scene is addressed through commentary by one of the featured meteorologists.
Examples of the highlighted commentary include:
? On-camera meteorologist Vivian Brown providing a scientific explanation of the conditions that cause a rainbow ? Mike Bettes, co-host on the Abrams & Bettes - Beyond the Weather, stating that mammatus clouds can be described as "cotton balls hanging from the sky" ? Dr. Gregory Forbes, severe weather expert stressing the importance of safety precautions related to weather. "You can't tell how strong a tornado is by looking at it, and they are all dangerous." This is the first time that on-air talent has been so personally involved in this type of project. An exclusive autographed photo of all the featured meteorologists is included in the calendar.
