Based on Overwhelming Popularity of "Edu-cations," Loews Hotels Introduces Three Additional Programs for the Summer Travel Season
New York (PRWEB) June 2, 2008 -- Just in time for the summer travel season, Loews Hotels will launch three new "Edu-cations" in Washington, DC; Santa Monica, CA and Tucson, AZ. The year-round packages offer a one- or two-night stay and a combination of entertaining, fun and educational activities to appeal to the hard-to-please, but very influential teen market. These packages join the already popular "Edu-cations" launched this winter at the Loews Hotels in New York, San Diego, Nashville, Las Vegas and Miami.
"Our first five 'Edu-cations' packages were so successful that we decided to continue rolling them out at our other properties," said Jonathan Tisch, Chairman and CEO of Loews Hotels and the father of two teenage boys. "We want to provide a uniquely local experience for teens that combines fun with a distinctive educational experience - like exploring Mars in Tucson or getting an inside track on the Washington, DC media scene."
At the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, AZ, teens can take part in the Mars Mission (http://www.loewshotels.com) with a behind-the-scenes look at the University of Arizona's Phoenix Mars Mission. The package includes a two-night stay in two connecting luxury rooms; a private stargazing session on-site with a professional astronomist; a behind -the-scenes tour of the Phoenix Mars Mission's Science Operations Center; interactive activities like painting using a robotic arm, soil pH testing and making "dirty ice" snow cones; a trip up to the University of Arizona's Mt. Lemmon Science Center, based at 9,100 feet, for stargazing and dinner. Teens take home a star chart to continue their astronomy education at home. The package starts at $700. Changes subject to weather.
Live Like A Star (http://www.loewshotels.com) at the Loews Santa Monica Hotel in Santa Monica, CA. Teens get a taste of Hollywood during a two-night stay with their family in a premium suite; limo service from the hotel throughout their stay; an acting lesson; meeting and coaching session with an "agent to the stars;" hair cut and style from the hotel's Ocean Spa & Fitness Center along with a makeup consultation and application (for girls, male facial for boys); head shots taken from a celebrity photographer (to take home or have mailed). The package starts at $2,000.
In Washington, DC, aspiring journalists receive an insider's look at the news 'buzz' in the nation's capital with the Stop the Presses! (http://www.loewshotels.com) package at The Madison, a Loews Hotel. The package includes two-night accommodations and daily breakfast, with connecting double guestroom for teens; tour of the National Press Club; lunch in the National Press Club's "members only" Reliable Source restaurant with an active member providing a one-on-one 'journalistic' experience; tour of the Bloomberg or Reuters bureau; a family pack of tickets to the Newseum, a high-tech and interactive museum that traces the history of news and where visitors have the opportunity to be a reporter, and a one-year subscription to one newspaper or three magazines of the teen's choice (value up to $100). The package starts at $1,250.
In February, Loews Hotels first launched five "Edu-cations," focusing on the interests of the teen market. The packages, which include surfing at the Loews Coronado in San Diego, tracking the financial markets at the Loews Regency Hotel in New York, learning to write and perform music at the Loews Vanderbilt in Nashville, putting like a pro at the Loews Lake Las Vegas and experiencing culinary arts with Barton G at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel, were so successful that Loews is introducing the three new packages, just in time for the summer travel season.
All "Edu-cations" packages rates listed are exclusive of tax and subject to availability. For more information or to book, call 1-800-23-LOEWS or visit www.loewshotels.com. Due to the specific nature of each package, they must be booked through the individual properties.
