Miami, Florida Hospital Switches to OpenDNS Across Entire Network

San Francisco (PRWEB) June 2, 2008 -- OpenDNS, the award-winning navigation service that makes the Internet safer, faster, smarter and more reliable, today announced Larkin Community Hospital has switched to OpenDNS from the default service it received from its ISP. Larkin Community Hospital is a leading healthcare facility in South Miami, Florida. OpenDNS is the world's largest, fastest-growing DNS service.

The hospital, which employs a full-time staff of more than 500 practitioners, ranks Web content filtering among its top technology priorities. Having used a pricey appliance, and at a point where a new model would cost thousands of dollars in addition to an annual subscription fee, Larkin IT staff were drawn to OpenDNS's free solution.

The hospital rolled out OpenDNS network wide and has enjoyed 100 DNS uptime since making the switch. All staffers, patients and guests connecting to the Internet through the hospital network are protected from phishing scams and navigate the Internet more efficiently with the helpful OpenDNS Guide.

"OpenDNS is fantastic and I recommend it to everyone," said Elias Diek, Network Administrator for Larkin Community Hospital. "It's more responsive than our previous DNS service, it saves us thousand per year and helps us to control all of our computers with ease using the Web content filtering dashboard."
