Nationwide Transportation Firm Overcomes Home Sales Slump and Beats Forecast Growth for Its New Home Move Division
Wayne, PA (PRWEB) April 24, 2008 -- Despite the current slump in home sales, at least one nationwide moving services firm is experiencing outstanding growth in local markets. TSI, a longtime provider of long-distance moving services, recently saw its new Local Move Division complete it's 1000th local move in less than a year. And the rate of growth is accelerating.
"We serve select metropolitan areas around the country, and each week we do more local moves than the week before," says TSI President Christopher L. Smith. "And we haven't yet entered the busy moving season. If TSI's success is a harbinger, perhaps the housing downturn won't last as long as so many 'experts' believe."
TSI offers its local move services in metropolitan areas throughout the Northeast and Southeast, as well as in Illinois, Colorado and Texas. New metro areas are being added monthly.
Smith is quick to acknowledge that TSI's ability to gain market share in a down economy has been largely due to a combination of affordable pricing, aggressive marketing, and good service available through the company's network of local moving agents. But he's also optimistic about both the immediate and the long-term state of the moving services market.
"Our Local Moving Division was created as a way of serving customers who know us as a leading provider of long-distance services and sometimes also have a local moving need to meet. Yet our growth has come from new customers. And we have a lot of jobs in the pipeline for people looking to move later in the year," says Smith.
TSI began 19 years ago as a specialist in small long-distance moves of furniture and other household items too big for parcel service but too small to justify the cost of a mover. TSI developed a way to efficiently combine multiple long-distance moves for a fraction of the cost a full-load mover would charge for a single move. Growth in the long-distance segment has been fueled both independently and through TSI's status as an approved provider of such services through The UPS Store® and Mail Boxes Etc.® franchisees.
TSI is a nationwide provider of small moves, less-than-truckload shipping services and local moves to consumers and small businesses. In business for over 19 years, TSI is licensed by the Department of Transportation and is approved by UPS® and Mail Boxes Etc.® for their centers to use.
